Blogpost 7: Farewell Beards

Have you ever wondered where beards came from? Or where it started? Is there any explanation on why some men can grow beard and why others can't? We all know it is unfair for some men that wants to grow beard but they can't. For we have found out the benefits of having a beard especially it makes us look more handsome than the others. But don't you know that your beard may gone. WHAAAT!! I know it's harsh but it's true.

According to Greg Voakes from his article, The Amazing History of Beards (INFOGRAPHIC), that beards came from DIHYDROTESTOSTERONE and this hormone is the responsible one of the growth of beard and also the cause of BALDNESS. Don't be surprised if you have bushier beard in summer because its level may vary seasonally so it's like Santa Claus that has bushier beard when winter. Let's return to baldness, based on the article entitled What is DHT (Dihydrotestosterone)? What is DHT's Role in Baldness? of Christian Nordqvist, that experts say that 95% of cases of male pattern baldness occur because of the effects of DHT on the hair follicles. If you're gonna observed adult men, they are bald so that means the Miniaturization occurred to them. Miniaturization is the process of the hair to shrink and stays for a shorter period and DHT is the reason for Miniaturization to occur in a man.

But don't lose hope my friend if you're prone to baldness and if not, that's not an issue for you are lucky. According to Mike Mahler on his article Testosterone is great but Dihydrotestosterone is the king of all male androgens! That if you're prone, there is still a chance to prevent it to happen. Tocotrienols is the answer to your problem, it is a special form of Vitamin E that help with hair growth and slowing down hair loss. See, there is always an answer to our problem. So this means that you can have your beard and your sex drive even you have a high level of DHT.

Even our beard is in the line of its death and we can save them as long as we took care of them for it's our man's facial hair friend. All men love their beards, Right?! Now we know where beards came from. Actually even young adults can't grow beard, some men find a way to grow facial hair by buying a product that can help them to grow hair or some chooses to accept their faith of what they have.

Blogpost 6: The Health of Beards

We have discovered many things about beards.............in history, fashion and personality but wait, there's more, it's not just for pure handsomeness and awesomeness, but also, it has health benefits. Wow!! Many benefits in one package, I really want to have a beard.

According to an article, Beards Keep Young, Healthy & Handsome, Says Science by James Thilman, that based on the study of University of Southern Queensland, beards block 90 to 95 percent of UV rays so that means, it slows down the process of aging and reduce the risk of skin cancer and

if you have asthma, from the article of K. Aleisha Fetter entitled 5 Lesser-Known Benefits of having Beard, the beards trapped pollens and dusts in order to stop them to go through their nose and because of shaving, it may cause of ingrown hairs and bacterial infection if not properly taken care of. We must maintained the cleanliness of your beard.

See. It is really difficult to choose whether to shave or not. If you shave it, it may cause skin cancer but if you didn't, some of the ladies are scared but other chicks like it so badly. So it's up to you whether to shave it or not. So I'm the decision to you.

Blogpost 5: Who are You with your Beard?

Cool isn't it? We now have different styles and look for our beards and we may have our very own unique style. And not only just styles that I have found out but also it defines your personality.............woooooow!!!!!!!!!!..... If I have a cool beard is that means I am Awesome? Well, I don't think it is. So lets find out your personality inside of your beard.

I'm the article of Kevin Lobo, Your Beard Defines Your Personality, Bollywood Hairstylist Hakim Aalim says that "Your facial hair screams out your personality and why that fuzz is worth fussing over". Mr. Hakim is the one that shall define you based on the styles that he mentioned. Having a trimmed stubble makes you more mature and has an irresistible masculinity. Having a goatee makes you look very corporate and classy. Having a handle bar mustache improves your sex appeal and if it really fits in you that will make you t
he ultimate bad boy. Having a french beard, it means that you have the aura of maturity. Having an unkempt look, now those men have this are the one who have di
fferent style or let it just grow, makes you cool, casual and fashionable. They are more confident having this kind of look and doesn't need the approval of others. Thin mustache adds to your personality of mysterious but that doesn't mean that your creepy. While having a clean-look, that means you're already have a good-looking face and "It obviously a God-gifted look". How cool is that?! Thanks to Mr. Hakim for he showed us the personality inside of our beards But as you can see it's still all up to us on how to approach others, I mean, it may differ from what Mr. Hakim mentioned.

We may have different personality based on our beard, but, these how men with beards with beards bThe Amazing History of Beards (INFOGRAPHIC)
ut how about others, view with beards. In the article,
of Greg Voakes on my 2nd blog post that in the study of facial hair: women found bearded men to be "2/3rds attractive as clean-shaven men" but the same women women as well as men were surveyed and found out men with full-beard to be older, more respected and powerful of a higher status but when compared to clean-shaven, it showed that they are "38% LESS GENEROUS, 36% LESS CARING, and 51% LESS CHEERFUL" and when it is tough to find a wife, weaker men shed their stashes and scientist think that men shave to make women feel SAFER.

Even we have found out our personalities through that doesn't mean we are accepted throughout the world these days. Some of them are scared to us but eventually there will come in time that all the people will accept bearded men. Oh by the way, "REAL MEN DON'T SHAVE THEIR BEARD"

Blogpost 4: Beard Treatment

Have you ever wondered that in the Philippines, men don't give their mustache a little bit of a style like the mustache of our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal? Filipino men these days are more on letting it grow and cut it out in the length they want. No offense guys, but f
or some Filipino men doing these things is not appropriate for their look but if that's how they want it, then I shall let them do it for this is just only my comment.

If you have read my 1st blog post, a documentation entitled BIGOTE, mentioned a Filipino bearded guy was being judged as a snatcher because of his look and this hurts his feelings. Instead of bringing a knife, he always have a comb and a mirror. You'll noticed that his mustache and beard is not appropriate so the team brought him to a salon for a treatment. After this, he was no longer being judged because of his trimmed mustache and beard. Here in the Philippines, not all salons have treatments for beards but in the Barbershops, they have a treatment of .................SHAVING IT!!!! WHAT??!! Back-off guys, stay away from my whiskers. For my readers, especially for the bearded men, if you are planning to go to the England: I must say, they really have salons for beards and mustache. COOL!!!

In an article entitled Beards; Fashionable or Terrorizing of Mina Mahrous, he is GUY by the way, mentioned a salon of Michael Gilman named Grooming Lounge that offers beard trimming and selling a customizable beard kits. AWESOME!! While Eric Bandholz said  that he uses Woodsman Mustache Wax and beard oil, and American Crew shampoo and conditioner in order to maintain his good looking beard. But not all men can afford to go to grooming lounge in England or buy the things Mr. Eric Bandhoiz used, right? But there is an another way to have a good -looking beard and that is ........................to TRIM IT yourself and there is a guide for newbie on what would be the appropriate look for you.

In my first blog post, an article that I've mentioned named The Best Beard Styles for Different Face Types by Michelle Powell-Smith. Different suggestions for styles based on the shape of your face that he had given. You can checked it out because you'll don't have to find the best look for you and for the beard because now, you have a   basis. So back in the first article, Moira Kaniewski said that, "Normally, men would grow on vacation and have to shave it off when they have to go back to the office. Actually it's true, managers preferred to a clean-shaven face for men for they have to be
presentable for their clients and to prove it, go back in the documentation BIGOTE that "Mr. Swabe" can't apply to any job because he is required to shave his mustache. Harsh isn't? In the past, beards are not allowed and until now, beards are not allowed in BUSINESS WORLD but it is allowed in public.

I almost forgot, that in the Europe, men there hold a competition for beards and may the fanciest beard or mustache wins. Here are some men competed in the 2012 The British Beard and Moustache Championships.

Now you have founded fashions about beard, why don't you give it a try? Maybe your look improve and the best part is you can attract more girls than before. COOL!!!!!!!!!

Blogpost 3: Beards in West and in East

Now we know about the History of Beards, we discovered that men who have beards in the past have in the struggle of caring for their beards. The men wearing it, faced a lot of challenges protecting their sign of mascunality.
There come in times that they have to cut off the beards and be taxed if they won't of get them killed. But as time goes on, the law was diminished and never been look upon again. These days, we don't have laws anymore of no beards allowed but regardless of religion there is a law that you shouldn't cut it down. In past, bearded men are more often to be respected and considered as a REAL MEN. Even they're young adults, they want to have a beard. As time goes by, what do people think about the bearded men now? Do you think that would it be the same foresee in the past as of now?

In China, as I've mentioned on my 1st Blog Post, that people in the past view men with beards are knowledgeable and old one. But as of now, it's really different from now. From the article of Charlie Cluster, What do Chinese People Think about Beards? A researched was made from the Baidu to searched for Chinese men with beards and took a picture of them and then posted these on Chinese Internet to see what would be the reactions of their fellow Chinese people?

1 out of 6 reactions that he mentioned in his article was only the positive reactions, so that means the others are negative reactions. According to the research, many men here can't grow their own beards and in fact, as you look their browser, many men are asking "How to grow a Beard?". Is that really possible for men to have difficulties on growing their own beard? Well, of course but we all knew that ancient chinese philosophers like Confucius and men have beards, right? As for my own observation, if you're going to consult the google and searched for ancient chinese men or watched chinese movies based on ancient past , you can't see young men have beards, only the adults have so this may be the inheritance of the ancient chinese to the new generation. And also, while I'm observing the pictures of different adult Chinese men, it looks like they have difficulties and they can only produce a thin and sparrow style of beard. so maybe these are one of the reasons why Chinese men can't grow beards.

It was also mentioned that the disappearance of the beard is a kind of historical evolution. "Chinese men will grow beards, if they like it and if not, they won't.

As for the men in England, Beards has been a big part of man's life. Even before in ancient times, men are already wearing a beard and for no reason, it became popular and also became a sign of masculinity.

In an article of Dr. Alun Withey, Beards, Moustaches and Facial Hair in History, in the time of Renaissance, having to be able to grow a beard represents the changed of a boy to a man, so it's like a process of adulthood and it's like a man's best friend. But in the 18th Century, something terrible happened. For no reason, men stopped wearing a beard and it became unpopular in the society. And because of unpopularity and people men don't want to have beards anymore, new shaving technologies become part of the time. The cast steel
was invented in the mid- eighteenth.

The razor makers sell different types of razors, razor straps to keep razors shiny and sharp, and face cream. Years past, beards took VENGEANCE. The british military started again wearing beards again. Because of this, men were encouraged to wear again the beards. As it goes on, they discovered many things about beards. Today, the bond of men and beard are getting stronger from time to time and also, don't you know that they even made a tournament of Beards, calling all the men wearing beards to compete in order to show the styles of their beards. But it is not just about winning but also meeting new people and bonding with their beards. Even there are ups and down, still, they're loyal of having their beards. But haven't you noticed that there are more men wearing beards in West countries than East countries. In west, men are more caring to their beards and they even give it a fashion while in east, they just let it grow. If you're gonna asked me, no offense guys but having a beard for west people is kind a good for their look and for east people, it's not kind a good for them. And speaking of styles, men in Europe are expert about it for this how they express their feelings in the form of art using their BEARDS>

Blogpost 2: The History of Beards

I know that you already saw a man with his beard and this man always took care of his beard. It is like his beard is part of of his life and can't lived without it. But don't you know that in the past, growing a manly facial hair could get you taxed, be a sign of rebellion against the church and worst, could get you killed. Woooooow.........Life is hard.

According to an article entitled The Amazing History of Beards (INFOGRAPHIC) written by Greg Voakes, that in ancient civilization, around 345 BC, Alexander the great ordered his soldiers that they could not have beards. Why?.....................................Because he has a fear, that in times of war, that their enemies might used the beard as an advantage in close combat by the terms of pulling it. At first, you'll laughed at Alexander for thinking such thing but as you further think about it, he really got a point. It's like two girls fighting by means of pulling their crowning glory in war. It's kind a weird stuff seeing a two men pulling their beard. Weird right?! And in the part of an article, The Troubled History of Beards by Daniel Lew, as for the English Clergymen, they're somehow lucky. Priest already kept their faces clear-shaven as a sign of their celibacy, a state of not being married. And as for the protestant priest, the way of their protesting is that they would grow their beard. In this case, the bigger the beard is; the better protesting it has. But a well timing of Elizabeth I and in the time of Henry VIII, whom they've taxed those men who'll grow beards.

As we go further along in this article, you'll asked a question, on how our ancestors removed their facial hair, that in the past, they are being threatened to be killed and taxed if they continued in Pogonotrophy?

Well, we all know that removing manly facial hair is a big lost for those men in the past and by means of pulling it manually is really painful on the face. In 2nd article, the Archaeologists found pieces of evidence that in as early as 100, 000 BC. that men started to shave off their beard but the first razors that were discovered by Archaeologists, date back to 30, 000 BC. So that means........................men are more in to pulling their beards off. OUCH!! A man who wanted to have a bare face, would used two sea shells to grip his beard; then PULL!! and by just seeing a guy deeply in pain, screaming, by doing this method makes you have goosebumps.

I never knew that in the past, men are having a hard time to keep their precious beards and luckily, we're not born in that time and we're freely to grow our beards in the way we like but not for me for I only have right is whisker so I have to wait for my whisker to grow into a beard.

Blogpost 1: Introduction of Beards

Most of us men by the time we reached our puberty stage, many changes in our body occur like increase in our height and weight, and growth of pubic hair in certain parts of our body. And for the young boys whose in the beginning of their puberty stage, they would like to know what changes already occurred in their body so they would automatically faced the mirror and they might noticed first is the hair growing between their upper lip and nose, and that would be the whisker but by the time it grew longer it will be called a mustache or BEARD. My Father can't grow a full beard in his face but only whisker he have, but I don't care, I believed that I can grow a beard even I came from him and I pray that this will occur. Oh! By the way, what is a Beard?

According to the Merriam-Webster's 11th Collegiate Dictionary, Beard is the hair that grows on a man's face often excluding the mustache. If you're gonna ask me about my whisker, it's still developing for I am still young and my whisker has time to grow but actually I really don't care anything about my whisker at all, and it all changes when I took an observation and researched about the hair between our upper lip and nose, the so called Beard.

Based on a public affair movie named "Kapuso mo, Jessica Soho" an article/documentation entitled BIGOTE, this was aired on September 9, 2013; that for the ladies, the hair is their crowning glory but for men, their BEARD is an additional masculine points for them. And that's why for some men, they would really took care of their beards and give it a hairdo. For some countries, they have different meanings for their beard. Like in China, it is the symbol of age and knowledge. Wealth is the meaning of the beards in the Europe because they believe that only those who can give their beard a hairdo are those who is rich, while in the Middle East, their beard symbolizes holiness, power and manhood. There are different styles for the beard namely Professor style like the beard of our famous scientist, Albert Einstein, Lampshade for Adolf Hitler, Chevron for Saddam Hussein, Toothbrush for the comedian, Charlie Chaplin and for our National Hero, Jose Rizal, Pencil style it is but for our other Philippine Heroes namely Juan Luna, Marcelo Del Pilar and Mariano Ponce, they have beard style of  Handle-bear. Speaking of different styles, an article entitled The Best Beard Styles for Different Face Types by Michelle Powell-Smith, He said that we may opt for a full beard or a small goatee but it
would be better if we based the style based on shapes of our faces. There are proper hairdo for our beards that will be based on the shape of the face. I have a Squared face so I would share what I learned, he suggested that the whiskers should be use to emphasize the jaw by way of goatee, a scruff or even a full of beard but if we opt for a full beard, it must be neatly trimmed in a square shaped and a lot of suggestions where given.Really, I would like to try this out but sadly mine is still a whisker so I have to wait for more years to grow and the worse part is that it might took forever. You can checked his article for more information. In order to prevent confusions in what would be the look of different styles, here's a picture that might help you:
Returning to the first article, it was also mentioned that not only men can grow beard but also women too. The reason why some girls have beard is because a hormone is present in their body named ANDROGEN, it is a male hormone. but scientists says that it might cause worse diseases but as you further watch the video a lady has a full grown beard and nothing bad happened to her so it might be only a hypothesis that a lady that has an androgen present in her body would cause bad diseases.

What would be the changes if we grow a mustache or in the other way around, what would be the look if they removed their beard? Would they be still handsome or not? But seriously, at the first time I saw a beard, I was amazed that not only on the head that the hair can grow but also on between of our nose and lips. But my first impression to those men who have beard is that they are bad guys and as I go along with other men with beards, It turns out that not all men with beard are bad guys, it is just their passion and fashion to grow a beard. I want to try these ideas of having a beard and give it a hairdo because I want to know, out of curiosity, if I would look good if grow a beard, so why don't you try it also. xD
